Back from Maternity Leave 2.0!

It’s been just over a year since my baby girl sprung an early arrival and since I’ve been on maternity leave! I’m now back at Nature Doctors, excited to book appointments! Dr. Deirdre Jasper ND has been amazing throughout this year, and I hope you’ve had the chance to connect with her while I’ve been on leave. If not, I’m more than happy to pick up where we’ve left off and continue to collaborate on your

Birth Announcement – Early Arrival!

After much anticipation of an April due date, my baby decided to arrive 1 month early in March! To my surprise, we had a little girl, Ivy Maude Evea (pronounced Uh-vay-ah). Born in a hurry with an incredible birth, we received difficult news shortly after that she had a congenital diaphragmatic hernia. This condition came as a surprise and meant she needed to be in the NICU and required surgery to repair her diaphrag

Loving New Nature Doctors Location!

It’s been a few months now since I made the move to Nature Doctors from Wolseley Wellness Centre, and it’s going really well! I love working with so many talented Naturopathic Doctors – being able to share info and updates in health on a regular basis, as well as bounce ideas and questions off colleagues in real time. It’s been such a nice break to be able to show up to work, focus on being a naturopathic doctor, and

Moving my Practice Location

It is with excitement and anticipation I’m announcing a significant change in my Naturopathic practice. Starting November 4th 2015, I will be joining the multifaceted clinic, Nature Doctors! This decision has been a difficult one, as Wolseley Wellness Centre and its team of amazing practitioners has been ‘home’ for nearly 8 years! I’ve loved being here, in this community, and among such great therapists. This d

Preventing this Fall’s Colds and Flus

On the heels of my last post which laid out how ND’s (Naturopathic Doctors) treat acute health problems…this one is about prevention! Hehe! Every year, we hear about colds and flus and taking action to prevent these illnesses. It can seem hum drum most of the time (and somewhat common sense). Wash your hands, cover your sneeze, keep up your fluids, & rest at home. Got it. Okay, anything else I can do? Maybe

ND’s Treat Acutes?!

In a matter of weeks, it will be cold and flu season. Now picture yourself, watery eyes and runny nose…elbow deep in tissues and wishing you weren’t so achy and chilled. What to do?! Do you suffer through it? Or find someone to run to the pharmacy and grab an assortment of decongestants, pain relievers and fever reducers? OR…do you pick up the phone and call your doctor…your Naturopathic Doctor!? Wa

Maximize Your Summer Wellness

When I think summer, I think patios, lakes, swimming, relaxation, hot weather and long days. (Ok, sure…throw in some mosquitoes and a little too much sun…I am in Manitoba after all!) But the reality is that most of us still work during summer.  And the routine of life, instead of becoming more serene and summer-magical…can become more chaotic! Now, summer is my favourite season. But I’m learni

Spring Into Health with a Detox!

Well, spring is upon us, whether it feels like it outside or not;) And with this season change, comes a great time of year to do a little body spring cleaning. Our bodies are constantly ‘detoxifying’ naturally. However, exposures to pollutants, chemicals, poor food, drink or air quality in our day to day lives can lead to inflammation and toxin ‘body burdens’…making it much more difficul

Vitamin C Supplementation – Are Medical Professionals Against It?

I’ve heard the same news story repeated; “The verdict’s in! Doctors confirm Vitamin C doesn’t help your cold or flu symptoms!” Or, “supplemental vitamin C doesn’t improve your health.” Really?! That’s the breaking news story each cold and flu season? Seriously? Are these docs and health professionals really against Vitamin C? First of all, let’s all crack our biochemistry textbooks open from university again and read

2014 and Your Health Wheel

And I emerge into this New Year after 6 months of being ‘home’ with my baby boy. Happy 2014! After several months of a very different routine than my norm, I’ve been reminded at various times of the availability of health care and information relating to it. We really do have a breadth of access to supports and health care services where we live. From primary care, emergency services (both telephone and walk-in) to v
